MORC Board of Directors

  • Jason Tufty

    PRESIDENT

About: I joined the MORC board in 2021. I started my volunteering out ar the Cottage Grove Bike Park. After a few years there, I began to want to do more actual trail riding. Just jumping wasn’t getting me where I wanted to be.

These days you’ll find me riding and maintaining the trails out at Monarch.

  • Jenn Nelson

    VICE PRESIDENT

About: I come to MORC thrilled to ride, enjoy the outdoors and be in the woods. Lucky enough to have a family who also enjoys being outside. My daughter is a runner, so she enjoys the same places I love to ride, just different trails. The boy races mtb, gravel and cross. He's happy to talk everything bikes. My wife tends towards the paved trails, so we all meet up at the trailhead at some point. As you see by the photo, I'm the one behind the camera.

  • Mel Cherry

    TREASURER

About: I am an avid mountain biker who has been involved in community building within Femme/Trans/Women (FTW) biking for over a decade. I am queer, hearing impaired, advocate for all bodies on bikes and love cats. I have worked in sales, repair, advocacy and non-profits within the Twin Cities biking community. I am excited to serve on the MORC board to continue to represent, support, and advocate for the FTW mountain biking community.

In my down time you’ll find me on cross country trails and the occasional bikepacking trip. I love waking up outside and long days in the saddle.

    SECRETARY

About: I got into mountain biking back in the early 90’s while stationed in Korea and Idaho.

This was before there were trail systems in place. I fell in love with riding on dirt and dealing with all the obstacles. After I moved to Minnesota in 97, I didn’t think there was much for dirt riding, so I stuck to the awesome paved trails for many years. A few years ago, I got into watching Mountain Bike videos and investigated the local mountain biking scene. I was totally surprised at the network of trails just in the metro area. I joined the MORC board in 2024 so I can help to bring other to my happy place.

About: I grew up in Florida and didn't start mountain biking until I moved to Minnesota in 2007. Now I can't imagine my life without it, and I love sharing the stoke of riding singletrack as a MTB skills instructor. I joined the MORC board in 2023 and am grateful for the opportunity to help more riders find joy in this crazy sport and on our awesome trails. Photo credit: Nate Ryan

    TECHNOLOGY

About: Growing up riding BMX I eventually got into mountain biking in the late 80s. Back then we didn't have official trails to ride. As fun as the early days of mountain biking was, it was nothing like the many 100s of miles of trail we have today. I originally got involved with MORC in 2003 and Theodore Wirth was my home trail where I did most of my volunteering. I did many trail building schools from basic to advanced throughout the 2000s and even helped design and flag trails around the metro and elsewhere. Around 2011 I decided to take a break from volunteering, although I have always worked within the local mountain bike community on trail advocacy. More recently I decided to rejoin the MORC Board with a strong focus on the trails, trail advocacy and helping grow our awesome community of volunteers and riders who help support the trails we all love and enjoy.

  • Gunnar Carlson

    PAST PRESIDENT

About: I’ve been riding MORC trails since the early 90’s and have always enjoyed single track. I joined the board in 2018 to give back to the organization and hopefully contribute to the future of off road cycling in Minnesota. My two terms with the board have been extremely rewarding. Looking forward to seeing where things go next!
